GLOBAL RESCUE SERVICES

Wagtail UK Limited personnel are volunteer members of Global Rescue Services

Global Rescue Services is a Registered Charity (No. 1093812) involved in Search and Rescue and has been in existence for over 3 years. The team, based in Penmaenmawr, North Wales, consists of volunteers including trainees new to this type of work as well as experienced members who in the past 35 years have responded to worldwide incidents including earthquakes, floods and terrorist acts.

In the past months we have attracted 7 No. new potential Dog Handlers from the various Emergency Services disciplines. We envisage that these Handlers are to be trained as follows:

4 Handlers and Dogs in Cadaver / Human Remains.

1  Handler and Dog in Cadaver / Human Remains / Confined Spaces.

1  Handler and Dog in Disaster Search Work and

2  Handlers and Dogs in Mountain / Urban Search and Rescue.

In addition to our increase in handler numbers  we are building a good working relationship with 2 major NW England Fire Brigades as well as giving training assistance to a number of novice Fire Service Handlers based in the NW of England. As indicated we are also developing a new type of Search Dog to specialise in the location of cadavers/human remains – a unique undertaking amongst current UK Search Dog Teams and one which my own personal experience tells me will be extremely useful in any post disaster type incident involving the recovery of multiple fatalities etc.  We also have available within Global Rescue Services 6 qualified Trauma Medics plus 2 Equipment Officers

In all, once our new handlers and dogs are operationally qualified and the Human Remains Teams are functioning then the Global Rescue Services group will form a not inconsiderable resource to be at the disposal of HM Government in times of need.
