23rd March 2011: Multiple finds at the Calais borderin February

February was another highly successful month for Wagtail UK’s detection dog teams working at the Calais border in France as part of our ongoing partnership with the UK Border Agency.
The finds demonstrate the continuing determination at crossing the border by smuggling themselves amongst various goods within trade vehicles.

Seven of the attempts prevented by Wagtail detection dogs were publicised via the UKBA press office. The immigrants were heading for variety of localities throughout including Basilden, Liverpool, Durham, Kings Lynn and Cork to name a few. The great success of our partnership with the UK Border Agency has demonstrated the importance in the use of detection dog teams in preventing illegal immigrants from entering the UK.
